The present publication was prepared to discuss the major problems associated with the liabilities of the modern marine transporters, with the main emphasis placed on the role played by the recently introduced technological advances currently employed in order to provide necessary support to the maritime transportation.
The author has duly examined the Hague Rules and provided the detailed and informative overview of the precedent standard together with the historical background and development. Two studies have been presented and analyzed, taken from the American and British case laws. The content of the publication is presented is a way making the understanding of the material easier even to the non-professionals, while of course some general knowledge of the subject is expected from the reader.
The marine transportation of the cargo is the most effective transportation means and the most popular of those applied in the international trade. Nowadays, the economies of the majority of the countries is measured based on the payment balance of the exported/imported goods, and this is the reason why the international maritime shipping industry is considered critically important to both private and public sector.
