The declared objectives of the present DNV Rules are to describe the classification/certification services applicable to the diving systems, offered by DNV Classification Society, and to provide owners and all other involved parties with with the guidance for the selection of correct level of involvement of those performing the certification/classification activities; in addition, the publication is aimed to provide a common communication platform to describe the extent of Classification activities.
The present document describes all necessary activities that shall be carried out in order for the initial diving system component certificates and class certificate to be issued by DNV. In addition to what is stated in this paper, all general requirements outlined in Part 5/Chapter 16 of the DNV Rules for Classification of Ships shall apply. The opening section of the document gives some intro and references.
The main section contains procedural requirements - classification principles, service process, documentation and plan approval, certification, classification and verification. Four appendices to the document provide some supplementary information like general description of the sub-phases of the projects, sources to assist in obtaining reference documents etc.
