This publication is dealing with the fatigue and fracture related issues of various engineering materials commonly used for construction. The author has provided a coverage of the mechanical properties, touching the differences that exist there between the brittle and ductile fractures in materials, fundamentals of the fracture mechanics and fatigue, main structural joints and their characteristics, hi-temp failures and wear, failures induced by the environmental conditions, and major stages of the failure analysis process.
There are several chapters addressing the fatigue aspects and fracture of steels and aluminum alloys together with the other alloys, polymers, ceramic and other materials. The author tried to make a book that would balance all major points of the fracture and fatigue analysis of the construction materials without making readers get engaged in complex mathematical calculations.
The volume is really ideal one for the engineers having some minimal knowledge of the materials and willing to involve in fatigue and/or fracture analysis. The content is also providing required technical basis for the further research work and will therefore be interesting even for the experienced engineers.
