The main intention of the authors of this book was to give readers a sort of truly dependable base which they could use when starting their advanced study of the subject. While the main purpose is to assist the ship designers, the content will be equally interesting and useful to all people engaged in the shipbuilding and ship design. It is truth that the ship design is a form of art, just like any other design activity.
However, one shall remember at all times that the subject process keeps demanding skills, supplemented with the good imagination, as almost nothing can be achieved by just following the established rules blindly. There are ten chapters in this volume, the first one providing some introduction to the ship design process, and mechanics as such.
After that the ocean environment is being addressed in detail, as this knowledge is considered critically important for the whole process of designing marine vehicles. Once this is completed, you will proceed to the main part of the book, covering modelling of marine systems, steady motion of the vehicle at both low and high speeds, and many other areas.
