This book has been prepared for the professionals of the shipping industry as well as for the maritime students. It will offer them an excellent experience if they are willing to get acquainted with the numerous different aspects of global shipping of today particularly focusing on the innovation dynamics. The content is arranged in four major sections.
The first section is devoted to the international shipping and the world economy, covering the seaborne trade and global economy, shipbuilding dynamics, and a thorough analysis of today's shipping market. The second section deals with the ship innovation including the oil tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels, gas- and chemical tankers and other types of ships, and shortsea shipping, benchmarking, ports, and triggers for innovation.
The third section addresses the innovation theory focusing on the wealth creation and business, creativity, business clusters, and other aspects of innovation. Finally, the last fourth section deals with the ship design and includes several case studies - in this section the author provides some required ship terminology, ship design methods, sustainable shipping and ballast-free ship innovation and other topics considered relevant.
