HANDLING VEGETABLE OILS

As it is clearly understood from the title of the present training video film, it is intended to address the handling of the vegetable oils transported by sea. The main topics of the film are maintaining the quality of the cargo, preparation to load, actual loading, carriage and discharge of vegetable oils, personal hazards involved in the process, and tank cleaning.

The target audience of this training program would mainly include deck officers while a key objective of the film was to emphasize the whole importance of strictly following the cargo requirements and operating procedures. It should be clearly understood that vegetable oils are very challenging type of cargoes needing careful handling not deteriorating their quality and not increasing their FFA (standing for the free fatty acid) content.
