The present Guidelines were prepared by the China Class Society professionals and published with the intention to set the requirements for surveys of anti-fouling systems on vessels and ensure that vessels and applied anti-fouling coatings fully comply with the specified requirements, as applicable.
The document starts with the purpose and application explained, list of definitions used in these Guidelines, requirements for control of the anti-fouling systems applied to the vessels, CCS classification notation. The part of the book addressing surveys of ships provides general survey requirements that are to be referred to as the technical basis, tells the readers how surveys shall be requested, provide the scope for the initial and any additional AFS surveys.
The last chapter of the book deals with the anti-fouling system certificate - it sheds some light on the process of the issuance and subsequent periodical endorsements of the subject certificate, and explains the expiration dates and revalidation procedure for this document. The Annex at the end of the publication describes applicable methods for sampling/analysis of the anti-fouling systems used for protection of the ship's hull.
