GOTAVERKEN B&W K—GF ENGINES — FUEL VALVE REPLACEMENT AND OVERHAUL

Here is a good instructional video produced by Gotaverken Burmeister & Wein specialists and devoted to the fuel valves installed on the K-KF engines and demonstrating the process of their replacement and overhaul. This operation has been described in the Instruction Book, as well - refer to the Volume 2 - Maintenance Parts 901-2, 909-8.

Before we commence the work, we must follow five safety measures, namely - stop the engine, block the starting mechanism by closing the tap for the starting air, connect the turning gear, open the display cocks, close the oil-supply tap. Once these operations have been satisfactorily completed, you can then begin the replacement of the fuel valve.

It is assumed that the following items are at hand - a normal tool kit, a replacement valve normally collected at the time of purchase from the stores, various cleaning/grinding materials. There are some special tools commonly required, such as the extractor and grinding and milling tools for the fuel valve.
